Summer Horse Camp 2016 is well under way at Carousel O Breeds Farm in Montevallo, Alabama. Campers of all ages have enjoyed learning all about horses, horse care, and riding at the weeklong camp, which is focusing on extreme trail obstacles this year.
On Thursday, camp pictures were taken by Don Breland Photography, and video was shot by Southern Horse Talk. Stay tuned for the pics and videos!
Campers have made friends to last a lifetime, learned life skills, and cared for their camp horses all week. They are making memories while learning responsibility, persistence, confidence, and leadership, all of which build their overall character set in traditional values.
Don’t forget to sign your little horse lovers up for Summer Horse Camp 2017. Get a jump on the others and save your spot today. The registration form can be found on the Forms tab on the website or click here.
Thanks to all the kids and parents who make our summer horse camps and riding lessons so much fun and such a blessing. We look forward to the show this weekend and to seeing you next year at Summer Horse Camp 2017!
On May 18, 2016, from 9 am to 12 pm, at the Linda Nolen Learning Center in Alabaster, Alabama, Libby Shackelford, owner of Carousel O Breeds, and leader of the Shelby County 4-H Horse Club, will delight the students for the 20th Annual Cowboy Day by bringing horses!
Every year the 4-Hers haul their horses, about 15 or so, out to the Learning Center to lead the horses around and have the students interact with the large animals. The experience is well-received by the students who eagerly look forward to the annual event.
For more information and to volunteer, call Libby Shackelford at 205-533-0432.
On May 2, 2016, at 5:30 pm, the Shelby County 4-H Horse Club will tour the barn and property at Hillock Farm in Calera, Alabama. Ms. Libby has been a leader of the Horse Club for many years, supporting and developing kids in the ag and equine lifestyle. Outings like this help the children realize what goes in to running an equine business and gives them insight for future ag-based careers.
For information about joining the Shelby County 4-H Horse Club or about riding lessons at Carousel O Breeds Farm, call Libby Shackelford at 205-533-0432.
